Since its conception in 1971, The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) has been encouraging women and girls to pursue their careers in mathematical sciences while creating equal opportunity and treatment for them in the same.
To accomplish this objective, the Association for Women in Arithmetic in 1988 started achieving NSF-AWM Travel Grant Program exceptionally for women.NSF is the National Science Foundation entrenched by Congress in 1950 with one of its goals to broaden the improvement in science and Aid funds in examination and education in numerous disciplines of science and engineering.

There are two types of Travel Grants: The Mathematics Travel Grants and The Mathematics Education Research Travel grants. The Mathematics Travel Grants furnish the candidate’s full or partial expenditure for transportation and subsistence for a meeting and discussion in arena of her interest.

Under this grant also, applicant is eligible to get up to $1500 for domestic travel and $2000 for traveling to other countries in only U.S. air carriers.
Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) and the Division of Research, assessment and interaction (REC) of the National Science Foundation aid funds for these travel grants.
The eligibility for this grant requires that the applicant’s research or conference should be in the field, which is supported by Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS). Only woman is eligible to apply but she should hold a doctorate or equivalent experience possessing a work address in the USA and if applicant is an unemployed mathematician, then home address is essential.
The candidate is not eligible if she as been rewarded this transportation grant in the last two years and if she has obtained any outside federal grants of more than $2000 yearly.
